Meeting January 13, 2020 Fixed Link Project
Introducing the Fixed Link Project Plan Team!
Our community is please to introduce the Fixed Link Development Team. Our team has been selected based on their technical expertise, past projects completed and their overall understanding our desired intent with the development of the Fixed Link Project Plan.
The following infographic details what must be done in order for the community to fully understand what would be required to undertake the construction of a Fixed Link. We need to understand the whole project, from socio economic impacts, to technical considerations to how we engage our members and external stakeholders. This project would be an enormous undertaking and we are taking from now until July 2020 to understand what is required. The Fixed Link Project Plan will be the driving document for many years to come as we pursue a fixed link for our community.

In order to complete this project the community will work with the following team members:
Marlene Stiles, Manager Economic Development: Marlene will be the point person for the First Nation on the development of the Fixed Link Project Plan.
Cambium Aboriginal: Michael Jacobs has been retained to assist with the development of the project plan and to ensure that community engagement activities are maintained. In the near future, Cambium Aboriginal will have finalized the socio-economic study, and will have scheduled community engagement sessions to gather your input towards the fixed link project. Once the technical assessment is complete (by WSP), Cambium Aboriginal will develop the community procurement plan to ensure members benefit from this project as well as manage the internal engagement plan (how the community is kept informed) and the external engagement plan process with OKT Law.
WSP: WSP is the firm selected to provide all technical advice and information pertaining to the Fixed Link. Having won the in depth procurement process undertaken by Chief and Council, WSP was the selected firm to work with community and complete the technical plan, the environmental plan and incorporate all of the other work into a comprehensive Fixed Link Project Plan.
OKT Law: Bob Rae from OKT Law has been secured to assist the community to develop and understand the socio-political impacts of a Fied Link Project Plan. Many different stakeholders will be required for a project of this scope and OKT has been sourced to assist with the navigation of this portion of the project through the development of an external engagement plan.
WSP and Cambium Aboriginal will be on hand December 3rd at the Christmas Bazaar to meet and greet community members with treats and the chance to win great prizes before the Christmas season.
Detailed corporate profiles will be added to this page in the near future and if you register for updates from the Economic Development Department, we will ensure that you are kept to date. Visit them at the Christmas Bazaar, Tuesday December 3rd, 2019, offer your opinion over a treat or two!
