Communication No 2 which is to replace the 2^nd Community Meeting which required in the Trust Agreements. This Communication deals with The uses for the Trust Revenues from the 2 Trusts. Chief and Council solicit member input on these uses. Please communicate your input to me at elwin.earle@georginaisland.com by June 15^th. Chief and Council will then make their final decisions on uses and these will be communicated to you in my next mailout.

SETTLEMENT NEGOTIATIONS

Aaniin. Our ancestors and leaders have disputed the making, terms, interpretation and implementation of the Williams Treaties (1923) from the time they were signed. The Williams Treaties First Nations have pursued both negotiations and litigation in an effort to resolve the dispute. We are now asking our members to help us carry on the work that our ancestors and leaders began.

After extensive negotiations, the Chippewas of Beausoleil First Nation, Georgina Island First Nation and Rama First Nation, and the Mississaugas of Alderville First Nation, Curve Lake First Nation, Hiawatha First Nation and Scugog Island First Nation (Williams Treaties First Nations), Canada, and Ontario have reached a tentative agreement through a negotiated settlement on their claims against the Crown associated with the Williams Treaties of 1923.
