Council Withdraws Support

The Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation has withdrawn its support for the Pukwis Windpower Project. Changes in the project’s construction, lack of financing, environmental concerns and dwindling support lead to this decision.

Chief Big Canoe stated that “We would like to thank all of those that have assisted us with the project to date and the community for their participation. This is a big project for a First Nation of our size and it is unfortunate that the project could not reach its conclusion.”
